We are just a little old for Easter eggs here at Food with Passion, but that doesn’t mean that we are too old to enjoy fine chocolate and especially chocolates produced by a master chocolatier.
And so, knowing that the kids would be getting stuck into their Easter eggs, we splashed out on the Chocolatier’s Table Luxe as our own treat.
The Chocolatier’s Table is available in two versions …. the Chocolatier’s table or the larger ‘luxe’ edition that we purchased.
Just like the sought-after chef’s table in restaurants, this chocolatier’s table is a beguiling selection of the finest chocolates.
The Chocolatier’s Table Luxe collection impresses upon unwrapping the outer packaging. The box measures a huge 570mm across and contains an alleged 125 pieces of chocolate, though I suspect that it actually contains significantly more than that number when you count the individual pieces that comprise a chocolate selection .. e.g. there must have been at least 30 chocolate coated rum soaked sultanas and maybe a dozen or more chocolate coated kirsch soaked cherries for a truly moreish taste from Hotel Chocolat.
The box lid closes with a magnetic catch and is articulated to fold back in half and reveal the chocolates in all their glory.
Included are simple chocolate batons ranging through white chocolate (forget sickly Milky Bars), caramel, milk and dark chocolates. But everyone is catered for here with rich ganaches, fruity recipes, nutty pralines and even mini chocolate cookies designed to give you a taste of every type of chocolate. Here is what we saw when we opened our box (click for a full sized picture).
Contained within the Chocolatier’s Table Luxe is a menu .. well actually more of a map/menu showing you exactly which position each chocolate selection sits at within the box.
There is no getting away from the fact that the Chocolatier’s Table Luxe is an indulgent treat. However, this is not an ordinary box of chocolates that will be devoured over the course of a single evening given that it contains a massive 1.4kg of the richest chocolates. That is unless you choose to share with a large number of people, perhaps along with coffee at the close of a special dinner party or other celebration.
For the smaller budgets, there is always the non-Luxe version with the same great quality, but of course with a smaller selection comprising 65 pieces (750g). No extra pictures of that though … we went straight for the Chocolatier’s Table Luxe pictured above.
