Mermaid Mini Oven Tray Trio
This set comprises 3 mini hard anodised oven trays. 1 roasting tray, 1 shallow and 1 deep dish. From 1 – 4cm high and Food with Passion ordered this set for our own use as we knew from experience that Mermaid products are the epitomy of quality and we had a wish to own some trays that would accommodate smaller portions without dwarfing the food or leaving a huge tray to clean up afterwards.
These trays allow us to make more efficient use of the space in our ovens, and save fuel costs into the bargain by cooking different foods together simultaneously without transfer of flavours.
Mermaid’s mini oven trays were the solution to our problem of never being able to use the dishwasher properly due to big cumbersome trays being used where a smaller one would suffice.
Sliding alongside your normal sized roasting dishes, they fill the ‘gap’ on an oven shelf and allow you to cook smaller portions.
Hard anodised, so guaranteed not to twist, warp or buckle at the highest temperatures, and with strong, solid bases so they can even stand the direct heat from a hob or grill which you can do immediately upon receipt as it is recommended that you ‘season’ the trays brfore first cooks use. To season, just wipe the trays over lightly with kitchen paper impregnated with a vegetable oil and apply a slow heat to gradually build up a heat in the trays until they are smoking. Wipe over regularly, taking care not to burn yourself until the tray takes on a light gloss.
So far, these trays have proved their worth in Food with Passion’s kitchen and their durability and strength seems as consistently high as we have seen with Mermaid’s products in the past.
Aren’t they expensive? you may be asking yourself. But my answer is that you pay for quality and if you buy top quality, then you rarely need to buy again in the ovenware category. These have the potential to last a lifetime unlike cheap trays that are often pushed out at Christmas to accommodate mega turkeys. Those trays will last one turkey before they are bucked, wheas Mermaid builds to last … and will be cheaper in the long term.
